CURRENT OPENINGS

Materials Development Lead

We are currently looking for an ambitious and self-motivated Materials Development Lead to grow our technical team in our Berlin office.

DESCRIPTION / CHALLENGES & TASKS

Quantica’s novel printhead technology empowers material development and enables professionals to produce objects that are functional, full-color, multi-material, and photorealistic. As the first addition to our in-house material operations, you will take primary responsibility for assessing, documenting, and supporting optimization of potential materials for the Quantica printing ecosystems.

REQUIREMENTS

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Engaging with in-house hardware and software developers to test material properties and performance on third-party and proprietary equipment
  • Engaging externally with material and testing suppliers to refine Quantica’s material strategy
  • Independent and autonomous planning and execution in a laboratory environment
  • Building up a relationship management with outside partners

Tools used:

  • Dropwatching / drop analysis visualization tools
  • Tensiometer systems, light scattering/particle imaging systems and ideally capillary breakup rheometers

Skills:

  • Have academic or commercial wet laboratory experience with photopolymers
  • Have preferably experience in continuum mechanics, fluid simulations or complex rheology
  • Have experience with different rheometric techniques
  • Can retain best practices in building and managing a material/chemical library, as well as the associated knowledge base(s)
  • Can independently develop and run experiments to target rheological analysis and photocuring optimization
  • Manage supplier relationships, including strategically sourcing materials and equipment and reporting results in a timely manner

Working Student (Hardware Production)

We are currently looking for an ambitious and self-motivated Working Student (Hardware Production) to grow our technical team in our Berlin office.

DESCRIPTION / CHALLENGES & TASKS

As a working student you will support our mechanical and electrical hardware teams with developing and optimizing the assembly and production processes of our novel industrial printing technology. You will contribute to build equipment from components and to fabricate precise components in our in-house facilities.

Your tasks will be diverse, including assembly, bonding, installation, etc of cables, motors, control boards, etc. You will also help testing newly adapted manufacturing processes and testing the fabricated equipment, in order to increase volume and quality of the hardware output, as the company scales from small batch toward series production.

REQUIREMENTS

You:

  • Have academic and/or personal interests related to scientific/technical fields, such as manufacturing, construction, engineering, physics, and chemistry.
  • Can quickly grasp hands-on tasks and are keen to learn from new challenges.
  • Show a strong attention to detail, and are able to evaluate and iterate the fabrication process and output until the result is right.
  • Skilled at finding, testing, and debugging problems, with a passion for quality output.
  • Eager to support – and learn from – a team in a fast-paced and challenging professional environment.Speak and read English (and possibly German) with working proficiency.

Bonus – You:

  • Know your way around a workshop, toolbox, and various mechanical and electrical components.
  • Have personal and/or professional interest in building or manufacturing.
  • Are experienced in working with analog and digital equipment, such as model making, audio technology, radio control systems, etc.
  • Have first-hand experiences/knowledge in handling adhesives and precision bonding.
